I purchased these cards with the thought of sending them to "special people" on my card list. Well darn, they are so beautiful that I find myself keeping more than I thought I would for holiday decorations around my house. I placed the "V" card, a most beautiful blue and white little gem, underneath a mini tableside tree. "P" for poinsetta is placed in the guest bath on a shelf. So,it seems, some of my "special people" are now receiving "back up cards"..However, for those who visit, they will find little gems tucked in special corners through out the house.
Those lucky enough to recieve a card are getting a special gift. The paper is high quality. The white cutouts against fields of complimentary colors can be soft and quiet or joyful and ringing.
The only negative is that space to pen a note or sign is not going to happen on the inside of the card. First, you'd ruin the beautiful inside and second, these are small cards, 3.5"x 5" - I signed on the back and wrote brief notes (a respite from all the newsey family letters we all receive).
I suggest, that those who want to save them for annual decorations, they be wrapped in acid free tissue paper available at most art stores.

Just received my set yesterday and they are fabulous! So detailed and interesting. Sabuda is the pop-up master. If you're looking for a different holiday card to send, this is it. The cards are heavy and colorful and the pop-ups are terrific and all are holiday themed. Can't wait to hear my friends and family ooh and ahh over them!

I purchased these cards at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and wish I had bought at least 3 sets. Every card I put into an envelope I want to keep for myself. Each card is truly a little gift! Additionally, I am glad they say Happy Holidays because I have many friends celebrating different things this time of year. I am going to buy additional sets just to have (or give as gifts) for next year.

I love these cards and am purchasing a second set since the first set was so popular and wonderful to give away! A previous reviewer had given it only 1 star because they said the cards don't say "Merry Christmas" and has nothing about Christmas inside. The latter is not true. If anything, there is a slight Christian slant on a couple of the cards: one with baby Jesus, one with a lovely pop-up Bethlehem and star, and one stained-glass window one depicting the Virgin Mary and baby (and maybe a few more I can't think of right now). A large majority of the cards can be given away to anyone of any religion celebrating the holiday season.
Anyway, if you wanted cards that said "Merry Christmas" on them, there are plenty of other cards to choose from. Or you can write it in yourself; meanings of Christmas come from the personally written message, not the pre-printed greeting card!
But how many holiday greeting cards are POP-UPs, for goodness sakes? They're delightful to open, and if you have a ton of cards to send out but very little time to write a lot of text, the small space each card offers will take care of that for you. One thing I love best about these cards is that they offer so much variety of holiday symbols (though admittingly, no Hanukkah or Kwanzaa symbols) that somehow match up with the diverse set of recipients I send these out to.

I first saw these at a store and thought it was a beautiful collection. Each of the 26 cards are different, one for each letter of the alphabet (Y is for Yule log, etc.). So every recipient will get a unique card. The cards are rather petite, but they felt high quality, sturdy and well made. The pop-ups ranged from a static 3-D scene to some basic movements, like a smaller "To:" gift label that pops out of a scene, another card is of the nutcracker figure that closes its mouth. The messages inside each of the cards varied as well, some said Merry Christmas, others said Happy Holidays.
